In Memoriam: G. Don Edwards

G. Don  Edwards

August 14, 1941 — May 11, 2016

Gwln Don Edwards, pictured above, was doing one of the things he loved best—singing. On May 11, 2016, our beloved Senior Elder joined Pastor Bill Caffey and Pianist Darlene Pritzkau in Heaven where they will, no doubt, make music again together. Cornerstone Family Church has lost these three pillars of our church, all in less than a year.

G. Don, as most of us in the church called him, was born in Brownfield, Texas, on August 14, 1941, son of Olen and Vada Edwards. He was the oldest of four children, and grew up on his father's farm near Plains, Texas. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth and their three children. G. Don graduated from Texas Tech University in August of 1963, having earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He and Elizabeth then moved to Richardson, where he worked for several local companies until retiring from HDR in December of 2010.

G. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Over the years, this man of great faith and an abundance of spiritual gifts, served the Lord faithfully in many roles, including teacher, counselor, group leader, Sunday school teacher, deacon, and elder. He served as Deacon at Northrich Baptist Church and Crestview Baptist Church; he served as Elder at Central Park Church and at Cornerstone Family Church from its inception.

G. Don helped many, many people during his life, and was always willing to listen and lend a hand. The testimonies given at his funeral testify to the effect G. Don had in changing lives for the better: always guided, as he was, by the Holy Spirit, by the Word, and by the Lord. G. Don was, in fact, the poster boy for living his life according to the great admonition, given by Jesus, as a summary of all the law and the prophets:

                                         You shall love the LORD
your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, with all
                                         your strength, and with all
                                         your mind, and your neighbor
                                         as yourself.

This was G. Don. . . .
